The bench came in one piece, already assembled. The top is smooth and comfortable to sit on. It is very beautiful and I'm glad I made the purchase. Wooden slats were screwed to the bottom for shipping and no allen wrench I had fit and no wrench came with it. :( So we just hammered them off. Oh, well.
